American Idol - Season 8 Finale

Tuesday:
  • 20:03 Last of these until next year. If I do it again next year.
  • 20:04 First one I'm doing on my new iPod touch, too.
  • 20:05 Three songs, eh?
  • 20:10 That hat makes Adam look like an elf or something
  • 20:11 He sounds better singing Mad World this time than last.
  • 20:16 I agree with Simon that it was Phantom-like.
  • 20:18 Still not crazy about Kris' pick.
  • 20:22 Have to admit, he *does* have an intimate performance style.
  • 20:27 I never heard of this song, Change is Gonna Come. Why's he screaming it?
  • 20:37 I don't know this song either, but Kris sounds good singing it.
  • 20:40 Whoa! Was Simon wearing that suit earlier? First I've noticed, but it's hot!
  • 20:45 Man, Adam is pitchy.
  • 20:55 The band isn't playing right for Kris, says Mom.
  • 20:56 Kris seems to be putting more into his performance than Adam did.

Wednesday:
  • 20:00 Final results show!
  • 20:04 Heh @ the Randy "for me for you" montage.
  • 20:06 The Paula one was good, too, but the other two weren't that great.
  • 20:09 Great to see the girls again.
  • 20:11 Man, did I miss the girls.
  • 20:24 Yeah for Nick/Norman winning Best Outstanding Male
  • 20:25 He doesn't look right without the glasses, though.
  • 20:41 My sister hasn't watched all season so when Anoop showed up on screen, she asked if he was Jason Mraz.
  • 20:43 Little did we know the real Jason Mraz would show up.
  • 20:47 Geh, I hate this song. Always makes me have to pee.
  • 20:54 I figured Bikini Girl would get Best Attitude.
  • 21:07 My sister can't get over the shiny miles. Those are made right here in CT, you know.
  • 21:07 Gokey is sounding good tonight.
  • 21:17 What are those things on Adam's shoulders?!
  • 21:21 He fits on well with Kiss, though.
  • 21:28 Fun times with Santana.
  • 21:32 I totally called Steve Martin. Didn't predict the banjo, though.
  • 21:40 That mustache is not a good look for Anoop.
  • 21:41 Oh, Rod Stewart, you sound terrible.
  • 21:48 Of course, Tatiana got Best Outstanding Female.
  • 22:01 And now, the moment of truth...
  • 22:02 Yaaay for Kris!!!!

American Idol - Final Three

Tuesday:
  • 20:05 Gokey really doesn't look like he should sound like that. (So he'd be perfect for a radio DJ ^_~)
  • 20:11 That was a sbemail reference, in case you didn't know.
  • 20:15 Has Kris played the piano before? I feel like he has, but I can't remember when.
  • 20:25 One by U2, eh?
  • 20:26 Oh, so that's what that song is called.
  • 20:27 At first it was boring, but then Adam pulled out the weird faces. Oh, you Adam you.
  • 20:27 And the tongue. Quote Dad, "He just couldn't help himself."
  • 20:37 Who's singing that cover of Africa?
  • 20:37 I heard that they didn't do Idol Gives Back officially this year because of the economy.
  • 20:46 A nice performance, although I'm now trying to remember who sang that song once that seems to stick in my mind.
  • 20:47 You Are So Beautiful is kind of a generic song, though, and Gokey didn't really do anything special with it, IMO.
  • 20:51 Kris does all right playing the guitar again.
  • 21:01 An okay performance from Adam, but I forgot to actually watch what he did while singing.
Wednesday:
  • 20:59 Ben Stiller?
  • 21:00 Is that Zac Efron? I don't think so.
  • 21:00 And who's that other guy?
  • 21:01 I guess I'll have to go to the Night at the Museum 2 IMDB page to know who they are.
  • 21:04 Break My Stride doesn't sound right in that key...
  • 21:08 I can't make out a word this kid is saying.
  • 21:17 It's always fun seeing the contestants going home for a visit.
  • 21:18 XD @ Gokey unable to hold back a laugh after hugging the cheerleader. I would totally do that, too.
  • 21:57 Whoa, Kris made it through?
  • 21:58 And Adam, but that's not really a surprise.

American Idol - Final Four

Tuesday:
  • 20:03 Duets night, hm? Sounds interesting.
  • 20:08 Aw, come on, where are the duets?
  • 20:08 I'm not liking this song Adam's singing (I missed what it was). But it sounds right for him, I will say that.
  • 20:18 I like that lipstick on Allison. The song's okay, too.
  • 20:28 Okay, so Gokey and Kris are duetting. But are they going to have individual songs, too? Probably.
  • 20:28 Whoa, awesome rocking!
  • 20:38 Not sure how I feel about Kris doing "Come Together." It's just a weird song. But he sounds good and looks sexy doing it.
  • 20:49 No offense to Gokey, but I'm falling asleep here. Not sure if it has anything to do with his "Dream On" performance, though.
  • 20:59 Adam and Allison sound to similar
  • 21:00 too similar, even

Wednesday:
  • 21:02 I'm thinking Allison is going home this week.
  • 21:24 Oh hey, No Doubt
  • 21:26 Man, she is out of breath.
  • 21:31 Neither I nor Mom could remember Gwen Stefani's name until I looked it up.
  • 21:55 Just as I predicted.

American Idol - Final Five

Tuesday:
  • 20:04 Jamie Foxx?
  • 20:04 I know him mostly as an actor, so I wasn't aware he was an actual singer.
  • 20:13 Kris - The Way You Look Tonight: Oh, he's got the look down. Not just the style, but the look in his eyes. This is a good theme for him.
  • 20:22 Allison - Someone to Watch Over Me: I do not like that song any more. (Not because she's singing it, I stopped liking it years ago)
  • 20:23 What's up with all that reverb?
  • 20:25 Having heard it so much, I can honestly say that she didn't bring anything to it that hasn't been done before.
  • 20:27 I'm thinking the judges are just being nice to her because she's the only girl left.
  • 20:28 Somehow, I think I'm the only one who things that Kara telling Simon he's crazy is an inside joke about how the show "Girl Crazy"...
  • 20:28 ...is the show that "Someone to Watch Over Me" is from.
  • 20:33 ARGH!!!! SOMEONE ALREADY SANG "MY FUNNY VALENTINE" THIS SEASON!!!! My quota for putting up with it is already filled.
  • 20:34 (Seriously, if I were the only one watching right now, I would mute it. I cannot take that song any more.)
  • 20:35 URGH, AND STOP SINGING IT SO SLOW!!! PLEASE, SPEED IT UP AND GET IT OVER WITH!!!
  • 20:36 Stupid Matt.
  • 20:45 Gokey - Come Rain or Come Shine: He looks weird tonight. Can't quite put my finger on it. The song's not blowing me away, either.
  • 20:55 That is it, no more Rat Pack nights are allowed. Hasn't "Feeling Good" been sung twice this season already? If not, it feels like it.
  • 20:56 Meanwhile, my mother is just plain tired of Adam's tongue.
  • 20:58 But really, everyone did a slow, slow song. Where's "Mac the Knife" or something upbeat?

Wednesday:
  • 21:06 See, now's that what they should have been singing yesterday. Upbeat.
  • 21:12 Wait, so all the cakes were destroyed?
  • 21:18 Adam in the bottom 3? Who'd have guessed? (Not me. I don't particularly like him, but he always seemed like the most popular)
  • 21:19 I don't think he's going home, though.
  • 21:53 And so Matt goes home.
  • 21:56 But yeah, that's he gets for singing "My Funny Valentine." And especially singing it so slow like that.

American Idol - Top 7 again

Tuesday:
  • 20:03 What is with Adam's hair? Is it the seventy's theme?
  • 20:05 Seems Lil has finally picked a good song for her (I don't particularly like "I'm Every Woman," though).
  • 20:15 Kris - She Works Hard for the Money: A pretty good arrangement, and definitely good vocals. But what's up with that shadow 'stache?
  • 20:23 I love September ^_^ Do a good job, Gokey!
  • 20:26 And it was good. Not fantastic, but still good.
  • 20:28 What is up with that outfit? Quote Mom: "Her mother shouldn't let her out of the house. She isn't safe."
  • 20:29 Allison - Hot Stuff: It just isn't the right song (and those stairs just make me think of Carrie: the Musical)
  • 20:39 Adam - If I Can't Have You: It was all right, but didn't sound right somehow.
  • 20:47 Matt - Stayin' Alive: Seems like one of those prophetic songs you're not supposed to sing. And this is the second song from that movie...
  • 20:48 But overall his performance was pretty good. Hopefully he won't have to sing it tomorrow night, though.
  • 20:57 Anoop - Dim All the Lights: Kind of lackluster.
  • 20:58 And he needs to shave!
Wednesday:
  • 21:01 My bottom 3 prediction: Lil, Allison, and Matt
  • 21:06 How come Adam's the only one without sunglasses?
  • 21:16 As I predicted, Lil goes home. Surprised they got it out of the way that fast, though.
  • 21:17 I guess it makes it easier to have tension between just two people, rather than three? I don't know...
  • 21:29 I understand why they're bringing these artists back, but they really have not aged well.
  • 21:55 Aw, not Anoop! Although considering how much he's been in the bottom 3, I'm surprised he lasted this long.

American Idol Top 7 Results Thoughts

  • 21:11 My bottom three prediction: Allison, Matt, and Kris #
  • 21:19 Man, so far, not good. #
  • 21:26 Sadly, not the "If This Isn't Love" from Finian's Rainbow.... #
  • 21:41 Oh, thank goodness they sent Anoop back. He doesn't deserve to go home this week. #
  • 21:55 I had a feeling that Lil would stick around (even though she doesn't really deserve it) #
  • 22:00 Nice that Matt got to stay, but next week two them will have to go... #
  • 22:00 I miss when they used to do Broadway week #

American Idol Thoughts - Final Seven

  • 20:01 How exactly is Quentin Tarantino supposed to help them sing, hm? I mean, I get the whole 'movie' connection, but still.#
  • 20:02 I'm probably the only one who made a Gypsy joke when Ryan said "Hello, everybody!" ("My name is Ryan Seacrest! What's yours?") #
  • 20:07 I hate that song so much ("Don't Want to Miss a Thing")! #
  • 20:11 Why did the judges like Allison's performance so much? It was horrible (and not just because I didn't like the song) #
  • 20:18 Not a fan of Anoop's pick, either. But at least he sounds good singing it, unlike Allison. #
  • 20:24 I liked Adam's performance (he definitely made Born to Be Wild exciting), but all the gasping he did between lines was too distracting. #
  • 20:34 Again, not a fan of the song, but Matt's did all right in the middle. The opening and ending, though... #
  • 20:40 *seeing the ad for Glee* It's Charlie (from Ugly Betty)! #
  • 20:42 I keep not paying attention to Gokey's song. He sounds good, but it's not grabbing me. #
  • 20:51 I've never heard of this song from Once, but it sounds boring and so does Kris. #
  • 20:59 Lil is very pitchy. But a better song choice than her past few weeks. #
  • 21:02 Overall, not too crazy about this week's choices. #

American Idol: Top 8

  • 20:14 That is so cute! (Kris Allen wanting to be a taxi driver as a kid) #
  • 20:16 I don't think he's doing a bad job, but it doesn't feel enough like the song to me (All She Wants to do is Dance) #
  • 20:23 Isn't Tina Turner one of the artists that you shouldn't tackle on American Idol? (Celine Dion and Whitney Houston are two others, I think) #
  • 20:25 I don't think it matters what Lil does, people are going to vote for her regardless #
  • 20:43 Scott is always good, very nice. #
  • 20:45 I think the judges are being harder on Scott than he deserves #
  • 20:48 Allison's hair does not look good like that. The singing was pretty good, though. #
  • 20:54 That truffle blizzard looks good... #
  • 20:56 Glaurgh! Don't do that to that song, Matt! #
  • 20:56 Oh, okay. But still, I'm watching you, bucko. #
  • 21:03 How typical Adam would sing Mad World. But he did look cute as the Phantom of the Opera as a kid. #
Strangely, some of my comments are missing.  I know I posted about Gokey's song, since he sounded bad at the beginning but evened out by the end, and I know I commented on Anoop's outfit.  Hm....

American Idol

Starting tonight, I'm going to start posting about American Idol on Twitter.  You can follow along with my live thoughts on the side of my blog, and the official list will be added to a post later in the evening.

Pushing Daisies - Pigeon

Am I psychic? Somehow I predicted Ellen Greene and Kristin Chenoweth's duet in tonight's episode. What makes it even better is that it was a They Might Be Giants song ^_^ (The very song that made me a TMBG fan, in fact.)

This is kind of like that year on American Idol, you know, the one with Bo Bice, and when I heard the theme for that week was Broadway, I thought to myself, "It would be awesome if Bo did Magic to Do from Pippin." He actually did Corner of the Sky, but that's close enough for me to count as a prediction. The really weird thing is that I wasn't even a Bo fan (I preferred Constantine, until that same week, when he sang My Funny Valentine, a song I hate with every essence of my being. Strangely enough, that week started a slump for him that eventually got him kicked off), but he was the one I predicted would sing Pippin, and there it was.
